Most useful Clamp Multimeter?

Hello,

New old boat owner - whoopie and starting to work out what we need to do first. It's a whole new adventure!

One thing we need to get is a multimeter - please can you advise which is the most practical/useful out there?

Make sure it has the clamp meter , that measures amps usage and make sure it measures dc amps, some don’t , also don’t store with the battery in they corrode.

And fast becoming a common sight in sparks’ tool bags now - or at least those who don’t have an employers’ account for an eyewateringly priced Fluke!

For use on cars, a 'max hold' feature is very useful, for instance to show the peak current when you press the start button.
If you ever want to know the difference between a weak battery and a sick starter motor!
Also good for testing welders.

Useful information but unlikely..... we've got a steep learning curve ahead of us getting to grips with all things nautical and marine..... let loose with a welder as well, definitely a step too far!

Our proper sparks have Flukes because they have to be calibrated, but as a jack of all trades who just needs to poke about unofficially, I too have a UNI-T in my work toolbag ?

I also have a couple of Uni T UT210E
one word of warning only, handle it carefully as the heavily used one at some point had problems keeping the rotary knob setting.
Took it apart, was an easy fix (don't really remember what I did though...)

the seller in that eBay link won’t send to the Scottish Highlands, which means almost anywhere other than the central belt. I wish they would use Royal Mail rather than some cheap courier who doesn’t want to travel far from town.
