Anyone else spot Lionheart around the Clyde at the weekend. Managed to time my tack just right for my mate to get this shot. She towered over us as she glided past so smoothly doing about 10 knots.

This one was taken just off Largs on Saturday

I always thought overhangs were designed to increase waterline length when heeled, but keeps the 'reported' length much shorter, ie when upright. So, when heeled, the theoretical hull speed can be higher.

Wow - hadn't realised she was up in the Clyde or would have been over for a look.

One of the amazing J-Class - we saw her and the other two ashore and sailing at Falmouth in June.

The most sought after and hard raced of the classic (and in this case reproduction classic) yachts. I am sure the billionaire owners and aficionados of j-Class world wide won't worry too much that some here find the design ugly :-)

I think that's the one that I ended up too close for comfort with a couple of year's back - a couple of mins earlier was almost a 'brown trouser' moment as I was drivng a big boat and was a bit short of space to get out of the way.

I saw her at James Watt Dock.

The crew were busily taking out stanchion posts. I was wondering if they were going to be racing nearby, or if they're doing a photoshoot.

Yes I saw her. We passed within a few boat lengths (hers not mine thankfully) as we were passing cloch lighthouse ...... she looked magnificent but as none of her crew were taking pictures of my boat I didnt take of theirs :)
