Take care with DEET. It's pretty strong stuff. I applied a DEET roll on around my ankles just above my socks when in Kenya. Whilst walking the movement of my sock tops against the DEET covered skin produced what appeared to be very severe burns. About 3inches high, right around both ankles. It was agony and I had to keep covered up and out of the sun for the rest of the holiday.
