This is another topic that comes up fairly frequently, but Im not finding the answers from old threads....
I get eaten alive by mosquitos wherever in the world I encounter them, and react badly to the bites. So its going to be important to keep the blighters out of the boat whenever possible once we have moved to a warmer climate next year.
Before I start ringing around, whats the best way of getting the ports covered neatly? Do the port manufacturers sell bespoke nets to fit their products? Will Princess be able to sell me a set? or do I need to find someone who can make them up from scratch? (SWMBO is no seamstress).
It may be that is not such a big deal as I fear? Ports being closed and A/C on may be the simple answer...
Any experiences appreciated.

That's what we do

There is plenty of mozzie netting available in chandlers in the Med.
my princess doesn't have AC so I lightly smear contact adhesive on the frame and stick netting on, when dry cut around with sharp knife.
I am told that Lavender helps keep them away and there are plenty of sprays for cabins as well as sprays for the body. You can also buy after bite sticks to apply on the bite.
loads of mozzies around SCM but I rarely get bitten, they seem to prefer ladies?

Cala d'Or experience over 6 years.

We have mozzie screens supplied by Sunseeker that are retained in a frame that allows them to be removed.

The portholes can be left open with impunity.

Hate the idea of running air con as prefer silence when asleep.

Use anti mozzie devices, that plug into the mains sockets for about 2 hours before going to bed. If any doubt give the boat a mozzie spray.

Marina sprays the whole mooring areas every day during mozzie season with very effective anti mozzie spray.

MOZZIES ARE NOT A BIG PROBLEM IN CALA D'OR

The 100% Lavender essential oils (not the cheap perfumed alternatives) will take the inflammation and itch from the bite when applied directly to it. It's a great product, worth researching it's other uses.

The nets are normally made by the portlight manufacturers so they fit snug into the porthole. I've had them supplied new with every med boat I've had since 2004 and never taken them out of the packets let alone used them. A few places in the med do get a bit mozzified but not in our cruising grounds, and if we encounter the odd one or two mozzies we close the windows and use airco. I'd agree with DougH (who knows the area much better than I do): Cala d'Or and roundabout there hasn't been a problem in the many times we have visited

I fitted them when I took delivery of the boat in 2009 and have never taken them out since.

If I left them in the packets I wouldn't have anywhere to store the packets.:o

Oh for a bigger boat with more space. What a great time I would have filling all the room up.:)
