I've lost one of the pins in my marples mortice gauge. Anyone know where i could get another? Are they relativly easy to replace?

My ordinary making gauge has pin similar to a gramophone needle, but at nearly 1" is rather longer.

My mortice gauge does not have removable pins. Mine is labelled Henry Disston and sons but a Marples one is similar AFAICS :

It looks as though the hardened points may just be soldered into the brass slides.

I seem to remember fixing one of these with the shank of a broken twist drill. Ok if you have access to a bench grinder.

yes this seems like a good idea

what do people normally use and why don't marples sell replacements? Or perhaps they do and no-one stocks them
