My boat has a Perkins perama engine controlled via a Morse mt3 control, coming home last night I found the engine would not rev, I got us home by physically pushing the throttle control on the engine, it was too dark to see anything last night to repair, what am I likely to find today? If it is the control itself would it be cheaper to revert to twin controls?hopefully its just the cable. I am not familiar with these controls and how repairable they are.

One possibility that I have experienced 3 times in 10 years is a broken throttle cable. If it's a Morse cable (most of them seem to be), they come in a wide range of lengths, in 0.5m steps. So check the end fittings and measure your cable then get a replacement. ASAP amongst others can supply them.

Very straightforward in principle and is probably a broken cable. Easy to replace although sometimes it is a fiddle to get the cable past other bits of the boat. No reason to change to separate controls as the cables are the same. You will have to take the control head out to change the cable which will give you a chance to check the operation of the mechanism.

Thanks guys, alldone pretty straightforward once I hacked the control out of the wheelhouse console, a previous owner had glued and screwed it in. Some carpentry work this afternoon I think.
