The RIB I recently purchased (preloved) is badged as an Aermarine Cabrio 320 CH.

The trailer and engine have plenty of documentation but nothing on the boat itself apart from it was originally stolen for its motor then sold on by the insurance company who paid out on it.

There appears to be very little information on the Internet about it so a few more unanswered questions to other RIB owners-

Is there a way to tell if the tubes are PVC or Hypalon?

The RIB came with a nice, 12v electric air pump but I haven’t a friggin' clue what pressure to put into the Chambers, it has three valves, any clues please?

Cheers

How to tell - Is My Boat Hypalon, PVC or P.U? | RibFix my guess is it will be PVC

For pressure - I’d go until it’s hard enough for your fist to bounce off making a small impression about 1.5 psi. BUT if it is being left in the sun consider lowering if it doesn’t have pressure relief valves.

Ps - you will want a better way of securing to the trailer. That will squeeze the tubes risking over pressuring them and chaff / wear the fabric.

Great information, thank you 👍

My 3D tender (PVC) states 0.25 bar (4psi).

The new AB Lammina (Orca/Hypalon) says 0.20 bar (3 psi).

Both warn about inflating to that pressure in cooler weather then leaving them in the sun.

Hypalon is usually smooth and PVC has a pattern to it
Not saying you're wrong, but just checking.
I was told, and a check seemed to agree, that all Avon rover RIB's were Hypalon. Mine and the other Avon Rovers in our marina definitely have a 'pattern'. I actually thought it was PVC that's smooth. Keen to learn more. It helps with cleaning products.

Thanks,

I had a good look at the data plate it indicates on there 0.2 bar and it certainly seems to be a good pressure. Interesting that the outside air temperature was 14c when I inflated it to the correct pressure, now it has dropped to 7c, the tubes seem a little softer.

Hope it's just the drop in temperature and nothing else!

There are lots of web articles and blog posts on the internet about this subject. Another way is to look at the inside of the tube, PVC is usually the same colour as the outside but Hypalon is black. Another test is that Hypalon is sandable.
