I have a Raymarine Tridata that I am going to remove and replace with an I40 depth instrument. I swapped over the power and depth transducer to the i40 and briefly (30 seconds), it showed the depth.

The i40 depth then showed three - - -

Transferred the transducer connections back to the Tridata and the depth reads correctly.

Can anyone shed any light on to what is going wrong?

Is you're transducer an 'in hull' type or through hull/transom mount type?

Found this which might be relevant?

[CA11] Troubleshooting i40 Depth Instrument
Thanks for sharing but as the information still shows on the MFD fed by the STng backbone, I would have thought that the i40 would too would be able to just display the depth. Not sure if the other tridata on the upper helm also being plugged in would cause the issue but too difficult to get at to try.

0813, NMEA 2K, Seatalk, STng, Master/slave, Raymarine, Autohelm, Navionics and the cat looks on and say 'Yeah, OK dad, whatever'.20240821_174529.jpg

Gotta love Garmin and an all N2K system ;)

Did I mention Albacombi, PGNs, MFDs and a plethora of other geeky stuff to confuse the hell out of me?
