They do a lot of interesting stuff in Liverpool bay. The little yellow dots on your map aren't buoys, but indicate the area covered by the land-based radar The fixed surface moorings are covered by the surface moorings, Waveriders and (I think) the met station. The tide gauges usually live on the sea bed (sub surface moorings). I would expect the ADCP to be sub surface as well.
