Saturday.
RCC received an somewhat belated email from HYCC informing us the they were holding a beating of the bounds ceremony on Saturday last. This involved a last moment scramble to rustle up a boat or two to meet their little flottila where our boundry collides with theirs between Rochester and Maidstone.
We duly met at the appointed time and the Mayors of Tonbridge and Malling and Maidstone jointly fired a cannon at us and we part company.
Apparently all part of an ancient charter and a swan counting ,copied elsewhere apparently !.
Garden party afterwards at Wateringbury.
Sunday
We hold our annual Valiant Cruise.Skippers take out a few local families, members of the Valiant Swimming club. The club has regular swimming sessions at local pool for children with various disabilities of all types.
A great day out for all concerned, most of the kids and many of the mums/dads/carers will never have been on boat before, simply bcause of access problems.
If we can get them on the boat by one method or the other, some quite undignified, prams /wheelchairs etc... we go.
The RCC ladies provide a neat buffet on our return.
Not sure if other clubs do this but a chance to show exactly why we go boating to people who really do appeciate your efforts and to go boating as well.
OG.
Next weekend is our big event. We can normally prise up seventy or so boats off the moorings for this cruise, with clubs from all parts of the Medway joining in.
