Thanks for the reply. I guess I could have given some additional info.

I have family boat experience on freshwater only but am a quick learner. I have a girlfriend, soon to be my wife and no kids. I prefer to get a motr boat for now until I can tackle learning to sail. I want a boat big enough to sleep 2 or 4 comfortably with all the amenities and something that would be considered a good investment. In no way, shape or form can I afford a new boat so a good used boat would be my market.

The business as I call it would be a "boat and breakfast". I won't live on the boat but may eventually. I guess I need a good starter boat.

So...if any additional advice can be given it would be much appreciated.

If you're really starting from scratch, why don't you team up with some friends and charter a boat with a skipper for a week or two? It's a good way to check if the real boating life is in line with your perceptions, before investing big cash amounts.

Besides, you made me curious about this "San Carlos Mexico".
The way you mention it, it seems that over there someone can easily start a business good enough to spend most of the time boating around... If so, give us more details !!!

You still dont say where you are, is San carlos, Mexico on your doorstep, this makes a huge difference, if you have to cross the atlantic first, getm my drift, boats in the states are much cheaper than europe mand have completely different inventories, like AC, gennys etc. It will be very hard, for this mainly European bunch to help apart from with generalities. The chater idea would be a good one, checking the place for available marina space and costs would also be a good starting point, I would be looking at a minimum of 38 feet for a comfortable four berth motor yacht, knowing the American taste for space and amenities, AC, Barbecue, ice maker etc.etc.
