I have just been looking at moorings and interested in peoples thoughts on the diverse range of costs/fees.

I have found that Saxon moorings seem to offer one of the best rates, bearing in mind the moorings are secure, have CCTV, toilets, water etc.

Are they any others that are on par to this, or reasonably priced?

You must be slipping Mike:
SAXON MOORINGS
CHURCH ROAD
OLD WINDSOR
BERKSHIRE

Saxon Moorings is situated in an idyllic and secluded basin that has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme.

no bungs unfortunately, just being open and trying to see whether there are any other comparisons. The next closest i found was Hambledon if you take the island mooring.

To answer the other question its just outside Old Windsor lock heading downstream.

I am glad to hear Saxon Moorings has had its refurbishment.

We liked it there, but if the river was high you could not get in or out because of the low bridge, and in the summer even a Birchwood 25 (which only draws 2 ft) struggled because it became so shallow. Before the Birchwood we had a Nauticus with an outboard and that had to go on shallow drive. Lots of problems with weed too.

The final straw came when someone broke into one of the boats (North Star) and started living on board. The boat was covered with a blue plastic sheet so no-one noticed.

There was no CCTV there back then.

Also fishermen kept cutting the fence and fishing in the basin!!

That is why we left and went to Bray.

I've got a Freeman 22 at Osney; nice location for going up and down, (if you can get under the bridge) and a really good community spirit with monthly events, secured entry, clubhouse for cheap beer and a chat, showers, water and electric, pub in walking distance with free internet access, good greasy spoon at the end of the road, parking within 20' of your boat and you can walk into Oxford and not get charged a fortune for town parking, very helpful marina manager, and a community patio area being built right now; tables, chairs, big umbrellas
