Regarding the light/noise at Shotley - I was there a little while ago and I noted at the time that it seemed like daylight throughout the night.

We kept our new boat in Ipswich Haven for the first 3 weeks or so, spending a fair amount of time up there. The thing that really struck us about Ipswich was the huge amount of emergency vehicle siren activity!

Those "tractor-boys" do like their sirens!

They'll always put your boat out on the Leavings for you or fetch it in for a small fee, so there's no need to be constrained by the cill in Tollesbury. And the people there couldn't be nicer.
