Hello all,
I have ventured a little warily into the MoBo section to ask if anyone can give advice on how to obtain a rental mooring in Port Grimaud or surrounding area. I have an Oceanis 351 based in Toulon on the hard but would very much like a floating mooring! Any info on availability and possible cost would be greatly appreciated. Boat size is 10.7mX 3.7m
Thanks in advance

Hi J, got yer PM mate - tried to help bobupanddown but unfortunately my knowledge knows bounds /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Proffered some advice but sent him over here to get some info from the 'big guns' like jfm and other folk in the area who might be able to give some concrete names/info, mine was a bit vague /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will be along soon, I said we were a helpful bunch, so we shouldn't let him down, he needs to take some good reports back to the dark side, along with a list of usernames not to attack with anti-jetski pistols /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I mentioned Les Marines de Cogolin as an alternative to PG, maybe someone could expand on the benefits/disadvantages of there?

Cheers

Chris

It would surely be easier and cheaper to find a floating mooring in Toulon than PG or further East. Marina Pin Roland on the west side of the harbour a couple of miles out of the town had space last year.

Only trouble with cogolin was when I was there it had the dearest moorings in the sof at least for single nights etc
But it has got a very good vietnemese restaurant there
Best avaliabilty i found was that one right on thedoorstep of nice airport but havnt been for 2 years so not up to date
You could try http://www.inwardsmarine.com/moorings.asp
No connection

Hi. As others have indicated, it is very difficult. It is even more dififcult if you do it by phone or email, as they nearly always say no. without even checking. You have much higher chance of success if you visit in person and are nice to them

The closer you are to Cannes-Antibes-Monaco the harder it is, so as Houghn said you might have more luck in Toulon area. In the St Trop area, PG has very few rental moorings and I'd guess you'd have more luck in Cogolin. No chance in St Trop itself. St Laurent du Var (right by Nice airport, not the nicest of marinas) is reasonably likely to have berths so well worth calling, but agian better in person than a phonecall from UK in English

Antibes is massive (1200 berths) but you wont get a berth by telephone, must visit. The number of berths is so large that there is always some turnover. Berth 403 (a 15x5 on the premium South side, so a bit big for you) is about to be vacated in 2 weeks or so by a Ferretti 52 that has been on it as renter for 6 years solid and was sold last week, so you could ask about renting that one, but they prob have a waitlist. You really have to plod the street and visit them all, sorry

If you want to buy a berth, that's a whole different ball game. Would be 150k sort of price for a 15x4.5 berth though

I have the tariff sheet for Antibes at home, will post rental cost tonite/tomorrow if I remeber

Good luck!

yes this is not the cheapest part of France for moorings but can appreciate why OP wants to get out of Toulon - it was a mess when I was last there -last summer.
If intent on the Cote d'Azur what about Beaulieu where I beleive they have some spaces - I turned one down a few weeks ago. (only refused as alternative arrangements already made by the time they got back to me)

Big fan of the African Queen!

Had the best pizza I've ever had - yes I know I shouldn't have been such a philistein and gone with the seafood platter or the most tender meat ever, but it was what i fancied /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sat next to bono - I have a picture with him somewhere /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Wish you lot would stop it with the SoF stuff, just looked at "Nice" weather and its 21oC............now i am p****d off. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll check it personally tomorrow and report back if you like - I'm counting down to the 6.10pm flight! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My boat is sitting in Antibes, serviced, anti fouled and fueled up, and the doc says I can't fly for a month after a minor op /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I can go and check and take for a spin if you want..... able to fly tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Urgh. Did you look at Virgin Brum to London Euston, 5 min taxi to new St Pancras, eurostar, change at paris for the sleeper overnight TGV to Nice? Is it all too much of a shagarama to be worthwhile? Mrs houghn and junior houghn could of course take a perfectly nice aeroplane :-) Has anyone here done the overnight train to South of France and can report what it's like?
