Hi all, as you are aware this is our first season motorboating, and what a great time we have had. To date we have explored from Bray to Hurley, this weekend we were thinking of heading the other way past Windsor. Is it possible and safe to moor in the Runnymede area? any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Yup, there noisy (busy A road) with National Trust moorings on the RHS going downstream, but you have to pay.

Go round the sharp LH corner after Runnymede park and round the next bend there are FREE EA moorings under the trees on the RHS. Walk through the twitten (alley way) and you'll come to a homemade burger place.

Moorings get quite busy

Well now, I could try and persuade you to have a fun weekend, cheap night in Windsor MArina, free fish and chip supper, fabulous value breakfast and buffet lunch on Sunday and a chance to meet some 25 or so Thames boaters some of whom are also 'new'.

Or I could say, thats fine, but not sure when there will be a next one!

Which would you prefer? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The lad has gone fishing mad, and as i understand it fishing is not allowed in Windsor marina, so with regret, i think we will pass this time, but look forward to meeting all soon!

Just upstream of French brothers there is a concrete wall which is a good free mooring spot. I found a body there floating past the boat once but apart from that its quite a nice spot although a little bleak if the truth is told. Possibly the EA moorings down below Wraysbury Skiff and Punting club are rather more 'salubrious'.
