Anybody know of any reasonably priced swinging moorings (wet or dry) in North Wales? Failing that, boat storage between Prestatyn and Rhyl. The novelty of towing wore out last Sunday during a blow out in the tyre.

anglesey county council do drying moorings in a number of areas, many of which are half tide and on sand or shingle so you can walk out to the boat if that suits you. cost about £100 per year and you put down your own mooring tackle, probably some available near where I moor at Beaumaris, a pleasant spot and very little tidal flow on the drying moorings. Thereare lots of locations around anglesey but also Gwynedd CC do moorings at Conwy (a bit more expensive) and the mainland side of the straits. Rhyl YC have moorings in Rhyl harbour but this can be very crowded at times. I am told there are certain areas where you can put down your own mooring without any fees near bangor!

Tyre went with a big boom and broke the trailer mudguard then made a lot of noise. Weather was roasting and I was only 5 miles from home so it could have been a combination of heat and over-speed although I can't remember going too fast but so close to home on a hot day it's possible I was unconsiously edging up a bit. No serious damage but there was no hard shoulder and I ended up parked on chevrons with kids in the car. Motorway Patrol car got behind us with lights flashing and AA did the rest.

Moorings above sound reasonable. £100 a year is in my budget and the Bangor one sounds especially nice. Anyone know more details like contact numbers?

Try a few local farmers, especially any with a campsite. They will often be able to offer the corner of a barn. Throw a tarp over to keep the dust, kids & cows off and you have a handy local dry storage area within a few miles of your destination.

Beaumaris mud is a very sticky messy variety. You will need a tender to get aboard when the tide is in. Plus wind over tide conditions can be very unpleasant. Small boats (under 22') can be kept on the foreshore opposite the Castle at Caernarfon (in the River Seoint) for a quite reasonable cost. Very convenient & sheltered, handy for the town centre & close enough for you to get to Pilots Cove if fine or Abermenai if it is dodgy.

Don't forget a rain cover! BTW there is a club between Caernarfon & Fort Belan - probably where you launched from for the Pilot's Cove trip. They may be worth checking out.

Rhyl has been mentioned.
That's My home town. The River Clwyd spills out at the Foryd.
OK as mentioned ref price etc.
Trouble is, whence out where do you go?
Presume your craft is not too large if it's trailable.
The Straits is ideal for a smallish quick mobo.
Whatever the weather, within reason there is always somewhere to play.

Storage available here too-- Lavan Lodge Indoor storage-- Rowen near Conwy.
