Mooring on the hamble... help

Try Haslar in Gosport, winter rates are good. Some people moan about the road down from Fareham - easy solution to this - don't go that way! Exit on J9 of M27 and go up B3334 through Stubbington and Lee. Takes about 25 mins. It's a friendly marina, just a few yards to the Solent from your berth (not a big trawl up a river) and you have Haslar Creek to ready your boat on arrival or departure. No big tidal flow so parking is OK. Visitors berths next to the lightship can be a bit rocky but further into the marina is brilliant. You then have Gunwharf for restaurants, cinema and for the crews retail therapy. Also the dockyard where there are loads of events held each year (and Victory, Warrior, Mary Rose etc). Gosport side is OK with a few good pubs and a couple of restaurants. Mary Mouse (the green Lightship that guards the entrance to the marina) does some decent food and has the best views in the Solent right across the entrance.

I'll second the comment about the tide. I had a single engined boat at RK and the tide was always a problem. Now I am at Ocean Village with twins and berthing is 10 times easier.
