Does anyone have any information this or is it just a rumour?

I've heard that the Spanish government impose a "wealth tax" in the amount of 12% of the value of the boat, if you keep your boat in Spain for longer than 6 months. Your boat will also become liable to be re-registered with the Spanish flag in the same timescale. This also means that, along with all other boats bearing the Spanish flag, the skipper has to pass the boat handling/competency tests as Spain do not recognise the ICC.

Vive La France !!!! ..... ooooer, did i say that ??

if the boat is Part one registered no need for re registeriong as spanish vessel. ICC is recognised in spain.

the Matriculation tax 12% aplies to boats over 15m and as i understand it only commercial vessels have to pay ie Charter boats. the spanish will only take the part one registration as proof of length.

probably not 'cos he's dead, and therefore maybe a little smellier and not as impartial as he used to be on Record Breakers. Ah, that Roy Castle, he's dead an' all; didn't he do a tapdancing record or summat(pre-mortem, natcherly)?

rambles off at a tangent.......

cheers,
david
