A friend of a friend is seeking a mooring location for an 88ft barge somewhere in the UK, arriving by sea not lorry. Southern UK preferred but all locations considered. River or coastal location with access to water/shorepower/facilities. A marina is most likely or perhaps there is a bank side facility that might fit the bill. Although the location brief is very broad the size of the boat and the need to motor it in (and out) I suspect reduces the options considerably. Not looking for cheap locations necessarily, availability of berthing and matching the requirements are more important. Appreciate that this isn’t the foremost place to seek such a mooring, just on the off chance that someone knows of something. Barge Association also asked.Grateful for any suggestions.

Is this a work barge, used for construction purposes, or is it an accommodation / houseboat type of barge?

If it just needs to be stored somewhere temporarily, then maybe a mooring would be ok, rather than alongside a quay, or in a marina?

Accommodation/houseboat type barge. It will be used as a part time residence in the short term then probably going for sale.

When we were based in Portsmouth harbour at Wicor Marine (going back 8 yrs now) they had a couple of large Dutch barges, possibly bigger than you are asking about, along side their main jetty. They were used as houseboats, had power and water supplied, and dried every tide. Don't know if they are still there, or if there is space, as everything seems to have changed now, but worth an ask.

A while back there were two houseboat 'berths' up for sale in Wooton Creek on the IoW - maybe worth having a look around there.

And one of them left last week leaving a large empty space!
