Moody S31 or Beneteau First 325

If this is for the Med, agree with poster who said either would be fine. If its cruising around UK coastal waters I would have thought the Moody would be more comfortable and drier, if slower. I chartered 305s and 345s in the mid-80's in Greece and remember the 305 as being fun to sail pretty wet and slammed badly because of the hull shape - cockpit won't give you much protection either. But then maybe the 325 is different. To be fair the only Moody I have experience of was a centre cockpit 37 (which I thought was a great boat for passage making).

The 325 has got a different hull shape and design than the 305, it's 4 ft longer for a start ;) , has a finer entry and the transom is much narrower compared to the 305, which has broader aft sections and a wide transom in comparison. The 325's hull shape was developed from the First 32 which itself was a development from a successful Jean Berret design racer.

As I said above, my father had a 325 which he chartered out from Falmouth, for well over 10 years, I still think she was great boat for UK waters (in the summer:) )
