I'm interested a moody eclipse 33. Has anyone got advice on what to look out for ie any problem areas.

One thing mentioned to me was that the doors to the heads may jam or not close in early versions because of the mast compresing the deck above the head... Is this true?

Are there any other known issues that anyone is aware of?

Thanks

Andrew,

Just a quick first cut response.
[You'd do well to pose the same question on the Moody Owners website - plenty of active owners there.]

Off the top of my head and in no particular order:-
Decide if you like either the MkI (wheel steering in the saloon) or the MkII (Joy stick)
A midships cleat would be good.
If it still has the original engine, I am told that the VP 2003 Turbo engine can be troublesome. I have the raw water cooled basic 2003 which works well.
Yes the heads door can jam but I haven't read much about it troubling owners.
Do a sea trial specifically to check ease of deployment of the in-mast mainsail. (The MOA website has plenty of advice if it is troublesome)
As the saloon makes the yacht more 'winter friendly' you may want an Eberspacher as part of the fitments for the chillier months when no AC is available.
View at least three examples before making an offer. One I looked at was more like a kit of parts.
It looks like Eclipse33s on sale in Euros are very good value at the moment.

Good Luck
Bob
