I have been offered a second hand Brunton Autoprop for my Moody 35. Trouble is with it in the water until mid December I am not sure of the diameter of the current 2 bladed prop fitted. Its a Thornycroft T80D with a 1.79 reduction gearbox but I need to know the dia of the prop to be sure of hull clearance Pretty sure it will be standard to the 346 as well. Anyone know offhand ???

Almost certainly a 17", may even be 18"

The Brunton Autoprop is VARIABLE PITCH (doh!)
Here we go (doh! to you too  )
Each boat needs a propeller that is designed to be the correct diameter & the correct pitch for maximum efficiency. That I think is quite obvious to most .
So Brunton design the propeller to max at that optimum pitch when running at max. It does not just design it to run at any old pitch. The propeller then runs at pitches from nil to the designed max pitch in its cycle. If the pitch is set wrong the performance at the top end will be incorrect.
I had this on my prop when they mistakenly supplied it with the wrong pitch. It was too fine & I had absolutely no drive in heavier weather. They apologised & changed it immediately without query.

On the back edge of the blade is a short chamfer. By adjusting this chamfer they adjust the pitch
I have been a friend of their MD for over 40 years & he explained that it is not just a case of getting any old prop to fit any boat. They must be matched.
