We just bought a 1986 Moody 34 from the Comfortina shipyard in Germany.
We did not receive a builders or a LLoyds certificate. We would like to know where we could find the serial numbers etc. The ship has only the Lloyds number.
Tried to contact Moody but they don’t have a technical department anymore, since the have been bought by Hanse and therefore can not answer our questions.
Most boats have a plate on which the number, manufacturing date etc are engraved. We could not find any, are there any plates or serial numbers on the Moody normaly?

Yes there will be other identification, but I'm not sure where it will be on the 34. The people to ask are the Moody owners association who are very helpful and knowledgable. You can find them at www.moodyowners.org.uk

Post your question on the info exchange and some 34 owners will get back to you PDQ!

Good luck

There is a number stamped on the top of the back of the transom on most Moodys. There is a hull number usually shown on the switch panel (if you have the original panel).

Once you can find a number then email sue.wood@princess.co.uk (who were previously called Marine Projects) and she will help you if she can with details of VAT status etc. It depends where it was built and who sold it. If sold from Plymouth then there are records going back but if sold by Swanwick then records were only kept for 8 years.

As previous poster has said there is much on this on MOA website, usually in relation to VAT status.

On our Moody 422 the hull number was scribbled in pencil on the back of every floorboard and bilge cover, and on the underside of the infills under the bunks etc...
