Interested in hearing any comments good or bad about the Moody 336 mk2 fin keel. It's a yacht that's on my wish list and although I am not really ready to jump back into the market there is one around that is getting my interest again. :-)

Excellent boat. I had a 336 bilge for a couple of years and raced her successfully - the hull is a fast and secure one with a racing handicap a bit better than a Sigma 33. Decent sea boat. Bit of a tardis inside with good heads and comfortable facilities but like most modern boats there is a price to pay with a shallowish cockpit.

An excellent boat but for some reason I didnt gel with the 336. But thats me rather than the boat. It was bought by our cruiser captain who takes it all over the place in all weathers and seems to think it is the answer to a maidens prayer.

OK... we had a Moody 336 Mk1, very much the same boat, and thought very highly of her. Well built, fast, seaworthy, huge heads, comfortable for 4, easily handled by 2.

We won our class twice in the RTI and she never gave us a bad moment in 10 years. I would readily have one again but SWMBO disliked the low headroom in the aft cabin, she suffers from mild claustrophobia. The Volvo 2003 was OK, but engines might need work after this time.

If you are considering one, drop me a PM, there is one out there to be cautious about.

PS also the best Owners Association / website in the field:

www.moodyowners.net.

1800 members, and still growing at nearly 200 new members per year.

You can ask about the 336 there on the Information Exchange forum without being a member.

I was expecting more response's than this. :-(

Well you have two now and they both say the same thing - a good boat. Given that we have both moved on to other boats for a variety of reasons, that says something. I dont think there were a huge number made so I would not expect a large number of responses to your request for info.

I looked at one before buying my Ocean 33. As has been said, very roomy boat for its size, but I found the cockpit uncomfortably shallow as has previously been mentioned. I viewed it ashore so cannot comment on sailing qualities.
