On a Moody 31 the tiller is fastened to the rudder post by a solid metal block. The block has a cutout at the front with a bolt through to clamp it to the near vertical post. The tiller is bolted in a stainless steel bracket which is fastened to this block by a through bolt. I want to remove the stainless steel bracket but the pivot bolt seems unusually tight - I can't move it. The nut came off easily enough.
Now some questions:
Is it possible that the clamp bolt is over tightened, and distorting the block causing the pivot bolt to jam?
If I undo the clamp bolt will the rudder drop out, or is there something else holding the rudder in place?
Thanks, Pete.
