I have just bought a Moody 31 Mk II which is currently in Spain. I know it needs new sails (they're knackered), but flying over there just to do the measuring seems an expensive way of proceeding.

Does anyone have standard specs for a crusing main and roller furling genoa to give a sail maker? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Ask your sailmaker. He'll know where to get standard dimensions for your boat. He could measure up a Moody 31 locally - there are plenty around, but I doubt that would be any better than the measurements on the web.

Enjoy your new Moody - we've had 2.5 really good years with ours, but i must say a new mainsail made a lot of difference.

I'm interested in how much difference a new main made to your cruising speeds. I have a M31 mk2 with original sails. They are soft, yes, but hold a reasonable shape. How much extra might I get out of a new main?
