Hi all,

Just to let you know we are currently monitoring a depression which could bring gales through southern Ireland, southern Irish Sea and the western English Channel on Monday.

If you are planning to sail then, do check the latest forecasts, as after the lighter winds for most bthis weekend, the increase could be a bit of a surprise!

Best wishes,
Simon

Was planning on Salcombe this weekend, coming back on Monday, but was a little uncertain about what I was seeing for Monday. Think you've made my mind up for me, as I'd have a cruising novice on board and don't want to put her off with possible rough conditions

Thanks ever so much for the update, able to finalise my plans now.

As an aside has anyone noticed that the Met office forecasts are getting increasingly inaccurate???

Hi Simon - thanks very much for the heads up. I'll be motor-boating in St Georges Channel on Saturday and Sunday, but not sure of Monday.

From what I have seen, I should be in for F1-3, 3 being the highest on those two days. Do you know any different??

Hi,

yes, you'll be looking at SW F3 saturday, perhaps low end F4 in the western St Georges Channel, nearer a F3 in the east. This will weaken through the day. Watch out for heavy showers forming through Saturday and associated gusty winds.

Sunday see SW F3, again a risk of a heavy shower.

Have fun,
Simon

In actual fact the Met Office website is forecasting 30 knots for Plymouth on Monday. Ties in with the posted possibility of gales.. Which particular forecasts are you basing your observations on?

I think I'll not be going out on Monday then...
