Looking at a number of sail makers and wondered whether anyone had any experiences (good / bad) of momentum sails - either their Premium Dacron or Custom Axis Laminate (Main and Furling Genoa). Sails are predominately for cruising (although we do like to sail quickly) and a little racing now and then.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I seem to recall these are made in China? (Apologies if not correct).

Anyway, I talked to a sailmaker at LIBS who had a Momentum spinnaker that came with his boat, and he said it is an excellent sail!

we bought a spinny from them and was really pleased with it, very well made... looked at a set of white sails last year but decided against as they were going through some legal issues i think over the word vectran / vectron, quality looked as good as the spinny we had off them. we eventually bought a set of north sails out of their norlam for a similar price.

we have a momentum custim axis laminate main built using vectran. how could there be a dispute over the word, vectran it is a fibre, isnt it? anyway brought from them at london 2008, not had a problem yet.

For some reason I thought that momentum custim axis laminate was Latin.
I think I must be getting tired ...

Alan, its not good form on these forums (fora) to pick up on peoplke spelling or grammar. We are interested in their views.

I'm sorry, Mr Forum Policeman, Sir.

I was not intending to pick up on anything, but rather to report something that happened to me at the time and which I thought was (mildly) funny.

I have a similar experience when I find myself driving behind a van with Parceline written on it. I know it's meant to be read parcel-line, but I can't help pronouncing it in my head as though it was Italian.
