Moisture and wicking, how bad is this?

Out of interest, assuming there is a problem with osmosis, does anyone know how much this would be likely to cost to rectify?

Well thanks to a certain surveyor (Nick Vass) who has been extremely helpfull and seems a font of knowledge on the matter, it really can vary depending on how much damage has been done. I think best case is spot fixing (the blisters) which some of it can be done by oneself or at least the initial work reducing the costs somewhat, worst is gel scrape (whole hull) dry out (a few months at least) and re gel...this is ofcourse very summarised...I'm not worried about her sale ability but I definitely want to ensure she is solid enough to take me back home or beyond...

Did you get any ballpark figures? Hopefully some time next year I'll be looking to upgrade to similar so curious what budget I should be preparing. If it were me I think I'd go for the full epoxy treatment just in case.

In the process of sorting out figures and will keep you posted if you like. My plan of attack (as suggested by Nick) is to sort out any issues/blisters etc here in UK and then look at the full treatment back home as the climate is a lot dryer etc..this is ofcourse subject to her not needing this treatment now...so fingers crossed (and toes and anything else I can find lol)

Hello, sorry bit of a late reply...well I tried to buy her but a complete breakdown in comms from the broker made me look elsewhere....I suspect he had a better offer in the end (even though we verbally agreed) but all he had to do is let me know...shame but perhaps better in hind sight.

I was then going to revert back to my old 25footer but a sudden change of heart fromt the missus means its looking likely that we'll get something bigger and set off to the Med for a while...fingers crossed :)

The broker was a ******. I enquirer about a viewing and he didn't reply for over a week and even then it was to offer a different boat. He had sold the arpege the day before replying, a week after my mail. I replied that I hoped he got full price for the sellers sake.
I found his whole attitude unacceptable and would only deal with him again for a very food boat. Even then I'd dot best to contact the owner and deal direct just in case. Sorry to hear you had similar experience, I assumed you were the buyer so wasn't overly disappointed :)

Yes I was, you are right about the broker unfortunately, can only feel sorry for the seller as that particular broker didnt give a rats...I offered to lift and clean her at my own cost etc but zero communication back....as you say one can only assume he got a better offer but still at the very least the polite thing would have been a thank you but sorry email...

by the way how are you going with your hunt?

Perhaps that's the real reason the boat was on the Market for so long. In case anyone reads this the broker is boatshed Portsmouth who seem uninterested in selling boats.
