Inclined to agree with that - I can't see that repar of damage to that degree is likely to be cost-effective. Also, if the damage is in the RF part of the receiver, it's likely to require more resources than a mate with a soldering iron and an RS account.

Better chuck it and buy a new box - IMHO!
