Dear Moderators
If you're going to move a thread because you deem content not quite appropriate then perhaps it would be a good idea to remove the subject line too - in this case it summarises the thread content perfectly and may still cause issue for anyone who picks it up on Google ...

:)

Beats me why everyone puts up with Lounge-type posts (ie completely unrelated to sailing) in the other forums. A bit of peer-pressure should soon put paid to it, but anyone complaining usually gets shouted down

To be fair, a post about a boatbuilder is not really "completely unrelated to sailing".

Definitely not very keen on the thread (or its remaining zombie title) though, as it is the kind of thing that could easily become self-fulfilling. Only takes a handful of people about to plunk down their money to google the builder's name, find this site, and decide to go elsewhere "just in case".

And yes, the title alone is worse than the original thread, which at least had some balancing posts in it.

To answer your question in a way breaks the rules, but...
Political, financial, anti..something ( usually UK) comments get posted I suspect because the people submitting the post are desperate that their complaint/whinge/ opinion gets seen by the casual reader and not just by members who have access to the Lounge. The post is then stoutly defended by shouting 'Forum police' at anyone who only wants to read posts connected with sailing/ boats etc:
There, I broke the rules..:p ;)

However, it can disappear quite quickly if the admins know what they're doing - but not so easy if the thread subject still exists in the public domain ...

I don't think so.

I think either:

They're afraid to post in The Lounge

or

They think they're above posting in The Lounge

Hiya, I have taken the redirect out of Scuttlebutt now so it has completely moved to suspended threads.

I do hope Northshore take no action against IPC for hosting this website.

I thought the thread inappropriate (without factual backup) but did not complain but if Northshore can demonstrate one lost sale or damage to their reputation ex-Solent Boy could possibly be facing a large legal bill and damages.

In the age of twitter I think many have become oblivious to the possible damaging consequencies of inappropriate/inaccurate statements

Plus it's close of business on Monday - perhaps we can expect an appology from ex-solebtboy?

Though I suspect not...

Not sure why you would suspect not, but you need suspect no more.

My question on the forum was a simple one. I had heard something that I had reason to believe and just wanted to find out more. No malice was intended, despite all the amateur conspiracy theories going on.

If what I was told is wrong of course I will apologise to Northshore for any negative consequences of my question. I have already tried to do so. I have met the MD of Northshore on several occasions so I tried to call them today but there was no reply on their switchboard number.

I will try again tomorrow.

What you said is clearly wrong.

You said administrators were going in on Monday. Monday is over and you prophecy has not come true.

And as I suspected, no appology.

Thanks - but it hasn't happened ... the thread title is still there ... easiest way may be to just edit the title and remove the "offending" words
