Mobo pilots can get a little frustrated when hemmed in by the shores of a lake. So they tend to go around and around. Which is a shame if you are trying to sail. All that wash and confused water literally knocks the wind from your sails.
Ah Well, live and let live.
Of course the new 10 mph limit (March 29th - Windermere) may change things a bit.
We'll miss their cheery wake and exciting thunder of diesel engines.

BigMart

Well us Mobo's know when we're welcome, and that is pretty much universally other than that well known bigot and wind up merchant BigMart, who is generally hostile to all mobo's

Re: No!

would it not have been better to have started this thread in the pub? From all MOBO threads they seem to buy their boat to drink aboard, Fitting considering a small MOBO will drink at least 50 liters per hour alone.

Re: BigMart

Actually most mobo's are actually quite nice people, but they're not terribly sophisticated and I'm sure if they realised what damage they were doing to the environment and other peoples quality of life by roaring around burning hydrocarbons I sure they'd soon change their ways.

You're not really getting the hang of this love-in either! What we're trying to do here is extend the hand of friendship to our Mobo friends and cousins, some of whom I've met and I can say that you would probably enjoy meeting them also.

Amd if it's hydrocarbons and fossil fuels you worry about, then perhaps the aviation industry would be a better target

Salut

Re: Mobo rescued me.

About 18 years ago in my yacht skippering youth I got a spinnaker wrapped around an octahedral radar reflector and had to let fly the sheet and guy in order not to sail up onto the beach at West Whittering. So there I was anchored in an onshore wind in the shallows with the spinnaker flying horizontally from the masthead.

Large Mobo came along and towed me all the way around to East Head.

Re: No!

Tosh dear sir, tosh. My little Mobo cruises at l litre per mile, and I usually only do 30 knots when cruising, so that is only 30 litres per hour! <g>

Not sophisticated! I'll have you know that we have some frighteningly sophisticated Mobo owners. It's just that none of them post on ybw

I have to admit to an affinity of interest with anyone who takes to the water, either professionally or in pursuit of leisure enjoyment. For some reason PWC irritate me - probably the pesky noise more than anything.

I've enjoyed crewing or taking charge of many different work and leisure powered craft from airboats (watch the throttle when entering water) to amphibious tracked buggies, hovercraft (plan your turn early), ribs and motor boats up to 200 tons. I've never tried a PWC but secretly suspect it would be great fun for 20 mins, after which boredom might take over.

There are consistent anectdotal tales on this forum of cheerful assistance from PWC which makes me wonder if I'm a arrogant raggie fart after all. Now, where do I get those pink trousers an a blue ensign...?

"so that is only 30 litres per hour!"

Brendan, lets start a thread on who has the most frugal MoBo, mine burns 2gals/ hr I make that 9 litres……. I win and take the prize?? S##T I knew I should have waited until the running got going.
By the way I mix with the raggies at the marina and have never had any animosity from them; in fact they show quite a lot of interest in my old Tub. But then again I still class myself as a sailor????? and why if there is some animosity do these raggies show respect for the RN when the RN is all MOBOS Double standards that what I say, so come on name names cos I haven’t met this so called unfriendly Raggie fraternity .YET!!!!!
