As we were passing Essex Marina, a 23-25ft petrol mobo was refuelling at the fuel pontoon. There was a big bang and loads of smoke. The Essex Marina workboat was quickly on the scene to tow it out of harms way and apply the fire extinguishers.
One person on board but extremely fortunately not hurt.

Another local mobo sent out the mayday, and the fast Police rib attended.

Currently cause not known, but it was scary.

It was also not the best time to find out my VHF not transmitting due to connecting the wrong antenna lead in a rush yesterday. We were on our way to refuel at Burnham at the time.

Makes you think.

Glad Skipper OK.I'm moored about 100m away from the fuel berth!!! Glad to here the staff were on the ball. Well Done !

Southend Radio news this morning reported the person on board is being treated for burns, but no update on severity of injuries.

There was a dark blue mobo about 45 -50ft being towed away from there on Tuesday. Completely burnt out inside and most of deck.
Now ashore at Paglesham.
Was this involved in the same incident?

Don't think so Dan. The incident I saw was pretty much self contained I believe

I believe that hull was recovered from Antibes complete with engines that Essex Marina pulled & are /have sold. Hull was also for sale.
