Mobile Marine engineer

Hi All
does anyone know of a mobile marine engineer who covers Marlow and the surounding areas?

All i need is an impellor changing in my 50hp 4 stroke Mariner outboard but have never done one myself, i would also like to observe it being done so i could do it myself in future.

Give this agent a call and see what they can do for you. They come highly recommended on the forum and would be able to give you any other advice you need re servicing, maintenance, etc.

I don't think John is too happy about Outboards but a simplistic task like this one wouldn't phase him in the least.

You can not be serious!!

Sorry to be the grumpy old man (GOM), but I think it a little optimistic to expect an engineer that you have never used before to do a VERY SMALL job on an outboard, when you intend doing future jobs yourself.
I know John very well and know that he has a heart of gold. He is also extraordinarily busy, miles behind with most jobs and coming up to the panic time when all his regulars suddenly decide that all sorts of jobs need doing and all before Easter!!
If you do decide to call, perhaps you might offer to take it to his house at a time when he is not over busy (mid summer) and I am sure he would show you the ropes. Meantime, if you need the job done look up yellow pages under outboard engine repairs and pick one closest to you.

hi, i do see your point, but i would be paying the normal fee for this job to be done, and am not asking for a lesson in mechanics or indeed any interaction. Also thinking about it i would be a bit suspicious if someone said 'please don't watch what i'm doing' - especially an engieer that comes to you to do the work.
Dont worry - nothing taken personally.
