Mobile Coverage in the North West Scillies

Hi all,

What’s the mobile phone coverage like in the North West part of the Scillies, specifically, New Grimsby, Old Grimsby and St Helen’s Pool? I’m wondering how easy it will or wont be to download wind and weather forecasts when anchored in that area.

We’ve just come from there. I found it marginal at times, but just about usable. Signal strength varied with tide and exact position. Sometimes standing on deck was necessary for a good connection.

Thank you. It sounds like climbing to the highest point on a nearby island should do the trick. Infinitely preferable to reactivating my Iridium Go!

We had 4g and at least 2 bars on EE anchored in Old Grimsby 2 weeks ago. As a previous poster said, if you can see the mast on St Mary’s you should be ok
