Got a question about my new Standard Horizon GX1500E, i have paired it to the chartplotter for the DSC, but where and how do i get/load a MMSI number for it?

Brendan is spot on re. getting the MMSI.
Programming it on your unit after you got it is another step, and each VHF/make has its specific procedure. With my Simrad it took more to find it in the manual than to actually program it, but I have no experience on St.Hor.

Just spotted he's in Guernsey and no idea if Ofcom cover, or if he needs a different method of obtaining an MMSI

Whoops. No idea about that, either.
Actually, afaik it's the Country where the boat is registered that should assign the MMSI.
I don't see reasons why the C.I. shouldn't follow the rest of the UK in this respect.
But as I said, no idea, really.
