My recently purchased P45 has the original Bruce anchor, i'm thinking of upgrading it to something a little better, without spending silly money on a "new generation" anchor.

Has anyone changed the Bruce and what was a good fit without major modifications to the bow roller ?

TIA

I'm very happy with my (genuine) Bruce, and have never felt any need to change it. What weight is it?

It's 20kg, original Bruce fitted to the boat when new in 1988 (i assume, every other P45 i've seen has the same anchor)
I have the same weight of Bruce on a 36ft ketch, but some weight fetishists would say that mine's too heavy. On a lighter note, a P45 always meant something very different, and hopefully to be avoided, back in the day.

I found mine (P45)from about 10 years ago. Fairly upset at the time. 6 weeks later I was back in the gas industry and feeling 'wanted. Just over 5 years work before I retired as an embedded contractor and having had 2 very good and supportive managers.

my mate with the same P45 mk1 replaced the original 20kg Bruce for a 30kg original Bruce, how about that :) 90m 10mm ISO chain.
he's happy, occasionally anchor together on his Bruce
