Ideally we'd like to keep our boat in the SW for 4 months and in the Solent for the rest of the year. Does anyone have any experience of doing that?

Premier (eg port solent and Falmouth) do a deal whereby you get money back on an anual contract if you stay out for 3 months. Seems a reasonable idea to put to MDL.

I can see the advantages - the stink in Hythe must be awful over the hot summer months.

Could you be more specific?
If its SW19, you could ask the guy on Augustus Road who keeps his boat on the drive, but not sure about the logistics of trailing the Oceanis up and down the M3.

Ken,

Sorry for the delay in responding but I have been on my hols. (Boating of course - no e-mail... lovely!) We have from time to time pulled together tailored packages for customers who want to summer in one location and winter in another. It largely depends on availability of berths but we would always be pleased to help wherever possible.
