Mitsubishi lift pump

I am looking at a boat with a Sole mini engine, 44hp Mitsubishi, it has an electric lift pump. Is it an issue? being belt and braces on mechanicals, could I carry a spare electric lift pump, any old pump, for emergency use? Apparently should the pump fail the engine limps home at low revs. I can test this by pulling the wire off.

Just found an old thread on PBO about this, mentioning the Sole. Problem would be an electrical outage, dry joint or any such leccy fault will stop the engine, when one with a mech fuel pump would keep going.

Well if it failed you would use ur back up engine
