Any ideas about maximum speed under ideal conditions.?

Well it depends on your boat, bilge keels? Large transom hung rudder? Prop/gear ratio etc.
Not fast boats but our old Mk1 with a Mermaid 225, original rudder, no bilge keels, and a clean bottom will easily hit a blistering 16 knots. Removing the bilge keels gave an extra 2 knots. Usually cruise at 8Kts@1G/hour 1200RPM or fast cruise 12Kts@2G/hour 1800RPM.
Top speed irrelevant to us as fuel consumption rises exponentially.
