Indeed, there was an application to have a fishing-boat moved from the Wivenhoe waterfront because it "spoiled the view". Fancy that: a boat on a river.

It would be easy enough to tie a bowline to the fence itself - aren't the holes in it there for that reason?

I am only a rare visitor to the east coast and never visit this forum - having been led here by a posting on the PBO forum.
However, if a fund were started to counter the H & S arguments by offering to fix a ladder to the quay I would be happy to offer £5 towards it as it would improve access no end.
BTW I hope someone is ensuring the preservation of right of way on the quay and to the village.

I passed a couple of coasters the weekend after Christmas on the Stour, one heading up river, the other down.
Where were they going to - coming from if not Mistley? Is is just the rest of us barred from using the quay?
I was sailing towards the first one and thought he was flying an anchor ball (with a bow wave) but when he got closer, it was a Christmas tree in the foremast /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
