Missing yachtswoman in South west.

The SW TV news have broadcast images of the 'wreckage'.

There appears to be a very smart saloon table plus other bits of debris.

The yacht it came from must have been significantly smashed up.

I was rather hoping what they found is a red herring, but it does not look the case.

I watched the BBC South West news, where this was the lead story. Based on the photos of the interior of the boat they showed and the shots of the wreckage, the cushions appear to be the same colour. The Coastguard spokesperson said that they believe the wreckage they have found at Sennen is that of the missing boat, and the pictures appear to support this.

The husband was interviewed, and seemed to me like he'd had a stroke at some time, which suggests that he wouldn't have been capable of sailing with her on the trip.

This is all very sad. My thoughts are with the family - I sail single handed, and seeing something like this unfold is very sobering.

From looking at the pictures the boat seems to have totally broken up....

Even if she had gone on the rocks in the conditions I would not have thought the boat would be so smashed up...

Could she have been run down?

I gather that a lot of bits have been found offshore & that would tend to point towards being run down, it's not been rough enough to smash the thing into those little bits IMHO

Whilst the scenario seems quite plausible and whilst you cannot take everything you read or hear to be gospel.. The cynic in me has nagging doubts. They report she "remarried" her millionaire husband days before he bought her the boat and she sails off within days on a solo voyage. Was the boat wrecked, run down, blown up.............? time will tell.

There has been no let up in the ground sea since early this week, enough to reduce a yacht aground in that area to pieces. If it had been run down it is likely to have been well offshore in the TSS, and the wreckage would not have come ashore in a small area.

Yes, this is the missing context, it does seem to have come ashore quickly and also we have no information as to how spread out or clustered the wreckage is.

(sorry, reply is to fisherman not photodog)
