My Brother is frantic with worry after his 2 kids 17 and 12 flew from Gatwick To Almeria in Spain to be met by their mum .He put them on the flight and His daughter and the kids mum were to ring him when they arrived.

24 hours later he hasnt had a call and is getting extremely worried.

I have the address they should be at in Lubrin Almeria can anyone in Spain help with phone number of local police station or any help at all.

Brit police refused to help .

Please reply if you have any way of helping us find out whats happening.Im sure its just a cock up but he is getting extremely worried.

Just a suggestion.
Have you tried phoning Almerimar or Aguadulce marinas to see if you could talk to a Brit livaboard. Maybe you could explain it to them as they are on the spot?
Failing that what about the airline staff on the airline they flew on?
How about the Spanish whatever in London to see if they can get the Guardia to do something?
Best of luck to your bro.

Not to sure, but i think the British Embassy is a good place to start, they will have decent powers to help track them down.

If you don't hear anything soon, when do you think you should report missing?

Keep us updated.

Google search gives a phone number for Guardia Civil in Almeria as 950256122 but I guess you need +34 in front of that.
Hope they speak english if your spanish is as bad as mine.

Thanks mike I have tried ringing the number but it doesnt work..How do I dial the + bit?Ihope someone speaks english as I dont have any Spanish.

Got through to Almeria police who slammed down the phone as soon as I tried to ask if anyone spoke english.

About as helpful as brit police were

You will not be able to contact them until the morning. However, there is an English speaking estate agent in Lubrin. They are local and I am sure would help.

Telephone number is +34 950 529 294

Chris

many thanks for that I will try in the morning.Imsure they will be able to help in some way.Just having a local contact phone number has destressed my brother a bit.

Tell us, Is the mum the xwife, it might explain all /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
They can get a bit funny sometimes?all the Time maybe!!!!!!!!!!

Hm. Try thinking heartless thought such as they have all been eaten by sharks, or crashed in the taxi on the way from the airport: the chances are very small that these things will happen - and thre chances are EVEN SMALLER that they happen AND you'll predict them, see?

I hope that I am not stating the obvious here, but first steps first: Your brother needs to contact the airline and verify that A) the kids boarded the flight after going through security B) the flight took off ,and C)it arrived on time . Since one child is relatively young and he is the father ,they should talk to him regardless of their passenger/security/privacy concerns. The airlines are open all through the weekend ,and are probably more used to this sort of thing than the police ,..if necessary ,having spoken to their UK Gatwick desk ,get on to the Spanish end and ask for their specific advice as to what to do next.
My apologies if you have gone through all this already and good luck .

Re: Missing Kids Almeria Spain Safe and well.

Kids are safe and well. Many thanks to all those who have offered help and advise. You have restored my faith in Human nature.

Maybe the next time your brother should have supplied the chidlren with a mobile telephone with his number + Intl dial on it, with enough credits etc - just so that they can let him know they have been met the other end.
Also when checking in (UK side) he could have informed the staff that the children were unaccompanied by an adult and being met the other end and the staff would have ensured they were safely 'handed' over.
There no doubt will be a few comments on the fact that one was a 17 yr old but the above scenario proves that no thought was given to Dad fretting at home.

Lessons to be learnt from this.

Hi jane he did infact do all the things you mentioned.I dont know the full story yet but thats not important now.
