Miscellaneous switch

[Storyline]

Have had this switch in the odds 'n sods container for ages - have a vague memory I might have got it for a bilge pump but not sure.
Would anyone explain to a bear of little brain how it works and what sort of things is it used for ?
There are 4 connections on the back (have marked these with different colour arrows so how to wire it up ?

Edit: the switch has 3 positions - fully up = auto, then a mid position where auto & man are both shown, then down = man - so what is the mid position for ?

Easy one that. Blue arrowed terminal power in, red power to switch via fuse, yellow and black - one auto mode one manual mode, Center position OFF - need to meter the switch to see which is which between the yellow and black terminals. Which ever one is auto would be wired through a float switch to the bilge pump while the other terminal would be wired direct to the pump giving manual control.

Thanks, but do not understand the 'red power to switch via fuse' bit. Also does it not need a -ve so the light goes on ?

It looks as though there are three terminals on the right hand side of the switch with the red going to the center terminal. The two other terminals would then be used as Cliff says and the spare terminal on the lower left of the switch could be the light return.

I suspect that the fuse to switch is the pump supply and then the Red and Black will give manual or Auto. I think the Yellow is the negative for the lamp.
