Still struggling with info for this boat. All the deck fittings are missing for the rigging. The shrouds are missing off the mast, and the mast step of the cabin roof is missing. Can any off you knowledgeble chaps ( or chapesses) out there describe what they look like and how to do it. (Scrapping it is'nt an option). There are two obviuos fixing points on the cabin sides but what goes on them is a mystery. The boat also had an sea toilette in. but I'm not refitting one. Whats the safest way to bung up the holes. Thanks

There is one on the same pontoon as our boat at Fareham (Portsmouth), I don't suppose you want to come and look but I could take a few digital piccies next time I'm there and email them to you if that would help. I don't think I would need the owner's permission?

Thanks that would be a great help, all the pictures I have got are of de-rigged boats on their trailers from ground level, not a lot of use. Thanks for the time and efort.

Several years ago I had a Mirror Offshore, but it was to the original Van der Stadt design of cabin (in plywood on ply deck), with the higher mast and rig, extra ballast (600lb) and bilge plates and no inboard diesel - a 9.9hp outboard which was too big really.
As far as I remember, cap shrouds were taken to deck plates close to the gunnells, the lowers to plates on the side of the cabin, both reinforced underneath. Forestay was taken to a bow roller fitting and backstay to either side of the transom - originally via a rope tension adjuster, which I altered to a monkey plate, wires and bottle screws. The mast was mounted in a standard mast shoe (U) fitting with about 9 ins of fore/aft adjustment possible.
Inside, the mast compression was taken by a stainless steel compression post mounted on the keel.
I would agree with omission of sea toilet as not much room. Hope this helps.

Thanks Paul its starting to become clearer now, Mines a Mk1 design from 1969 with fibregass topsides and alloy mast. There are mounting points on the sides of the cabin and a pair of holes slightly forward of the mast step at the gunnels. There's an eye fitting on both sides of the mast about 18" down. I'll have to investigate the mast cap for other fitting points. Thanks for the help

I have a mirror offshore.

There are no backstays. The shrouds are connected from the fittiings
18in from top of mast to fittings on the cabin side above the nav lights. This looks
lika a bottle screw half embedded in the grp. There are no crosstrees.

The forestay extends from the furthest forward hole in the crane on the
top of the mast to an L shaped fitting with three holes on the foredeck,
A roller reefing system was fitted.

The Mark II had a bigger sail area and more ballast 720lbs.

I have some diagrams which I could email to you

CORKONIAN, Thanks for the info, the clouds begining to lift, are there just 2 stays and the forstay? The mouldings on the cabin sides just forward of the backedge to the cabin don't give a lot of clues as to what was bolted there. The roller reefing gear is still on the mast, but there are no stays or mast footing. Any diagrams at all of the standing rigging would be much appreciated. THanks for the help.

PS send any diagrams as an attachment to my e-mail. Cheers
