How should I react?
I've just been down the boat and found this note stoch to the hatch boards?
Dear Sir
I am sorry to tell you that on Wednesday afternoon I collided with your boat. This caused a scratch to your topsides at the starboard quarter. I was with a colleague who I stupidly allowed to persuade me to keep quiet. I should have approached you when you came down to your boat that evening.
To make matters worse, my colleague elected to attempt a repair without my knowledge. If you will take a look and are not 100% happy with the result I am quite happy to pay for a professional repair. I am very keen to put right my damage and sorry that this matter has spiralled out of control.
