Miniature dive compressor, anyone used one?

Re: \"Freedive\"?

Colin,
I have just emailed the Manfr for Europe/UK dealers... or a price list to ship from US.

Jim

Re: \"Freedive\"?

Colin, no representation in Europe, but a nice quick reply, as below:-

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your interest in Brownie’s Third Lung and our Hookah diving systems. Currently we do not have a stocking dealer in the areas listed but we can easily drop ship any of our systems directly to you.
You are requesting a system that will assist in inspecting hulls and props and any underwater servicing. The questions I have for you is what type of power would you like to use? We offer battery, electric 110/220vt or gasoline powered systems. The gasoline powered system is the most versatile in that it can be both deck mounted, sit in a ding or float on a tube and cover in the water. Check out the following website for the details and pricing on all of our systems:
http://www.browniedive.com/hooka/index.shtml
Once you have narrowed down which system you want please give us a call or email any specific questions you may have. If you would like to provide me with your shipping address I can give you a quote on shipping.
Diving is so much easier with a hookah system and work has never been so efficient with a Brownie’s Third Lung system!

We look forward to hearing from you,

Stacy Wall

Re: Actung Freediver!

Ah so! Ist schon, nein? Sehr gute mein neue Doppel Boot Kapitan.

Re: \"Freedive\"?

Why would you need a scuba system just to clean the rope off the prop. Snorkeling is enough, under water I can work appr. 1min 15 seconds and when cutting a rope that's awfull ploenty of time if your knife is sharp.
Important is that you have a wetsuit if the water is cold and right amount of weight so that you can stay relaxed.

Re: \"Freedive\"?

Good Lord man, have you no sense of one upmanship?
Kiss indeed. I can do that for under a fiver off Southend Sea Front novelty arcade.
I think this system is the equivalent of MOBO Toaster, except plain for all to see out in the open and go Coo, look at that bloke wiv his fab gadget!
Also 1m 15seconds is too short to while away looking at stuff around the boat, rather than just gnawing away at rope sculpture on prop.

Pardon me sounding naive, is either of these scenarios likely to materialise on the good ship FC? If so, I would be intrigued to know where you are planning to go!

Re: \"Freedive\"?

Nick,
it has never been any secret that we intend to go very far indeed. In fact so far that we might end up with it being nearer to carry on rather than coming back.

Think Jaluit. Our target end destination. Before having to consider the follow on that is.

And no, I am not going to get into another long thread about why my AWB is suitable or unsuitable for such a thing.
I just want to max out the fun quality on the way round. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: \"Freedive\"?

IMHO already 1 min like in 8 meters depth is a very long time. Have you ever tried ? I've been spear fishing turbots like that and you can do a lot in one min. Only if you get excited at the end of the min you are in trouble.
One more time; KISS

Re: Jaluit

<oho. But that's only half way if you're coming back? Have you been to Jaluit before by chance since it is your Target? >

Not been to Jaluit before, but in Essex Marina a few years ago, a bloke was restoring an enormous 76 foot Miller Fife thing called Serengeti. Its registered port was Jaluit , Marshall Islands. I went on it a couple of times, it had been commissioned by the Cuban Interior Minister in the 60s, and then been on charter to the Hollywood set. It was (is)stunningly beautiful, having a 3 window aft cabin like a pirate ship, and a great Wheelhouse and deck area.
I dreamed of going there one day, by boat, and I set myself that as my final target in life.
I have no idea what to do (if anything) after we arrive, and will let the rest of the plan unfold from there.
Like all good dreams, it has only a slim chance of realisation, but believe me, the boat purchase, the project list for the next 10 years, the stuffing of spare money into pillowcases is no accident. There also appears to be a lot of places to visit before Jaluit, which may slow us up a bit.
