Miniature cable hound to trace wires and cables in the boat

Does anyone know where I can buy or obtain the circuits for a device to help me track where multicore cables are running on the boat? Cable Hound is a device for heavy power cables - an hf signal is applied and a probe can follow it underground. I am looking for a very much scaled-down version of the same thing. I could build my own with a CMOS oscillator but a lot of fiddling around, I fear. A project or something I can buy from Ebay for not too much would be ideal.
