miller fife motorsailor

Nordic Star had a 114 6L3 and at 50 foot, 65 tons, she was well under powered torque or no. Max with a clean bum about 7.5 but usually no more than 7 and at a comfortable 800 revs 6. That's just a bit too leisurely for me so I'm being a bit chary of low horses in my search.

By the way, I've been bombarded with virii the last two days, Nortons working overtime, anyone else noticed?

114 hp in a 65 ton boat only 50' long, no wonder she felt a little underpowered! Bloody hell, she should have had an 8lb in her! 65 tons, bloody nora!! what was she a mersey tug!! (I know what she is, just joking)

Re: miller fifer motorsailor

I got the details of the Miller Fifier 40 with the Fisher style wheelhouse. I'm 90% sure she's actually a 34/35 not a 39/40.

She has a raised foredeck, I'm no expert but the two 39/40's I have seen don't have that, I doubt they need it. I was told she also has the galley and heads next forward from the wheelhouse, and I think this indicates a smaller yacht too.

As someone commented she does have a big rig, so I suspect the length comes from the bowsprit and mizzen boom overhang, which whilst not an untruth is perhaps a bit like Winston Churchills terminological inexactitude! On that basis my old boat just grew 3 feet. If Lloyds Register was available today we'd need two new measurements of length, Marina measurement and Brokers measurement!

OK a big 155 hp Cat (11 knots) plus the Wheelhouse and the rig would have been expensive, and she does look in top condition. All the same I don't think she's for me.

Re: Herd and Mckenzie 57

Dear Sir,
I have seen that you know about the Herd and Mckenzie and I´m looking after one as I would like to buy one.
Andrea Ferrara is now owned by an Spanish men and the boat is now in Brasil.
The other boat the you saw in St. Antonio is "Leonor II" ex "Astra Volante"
And seems like they do not sell the boat.

So I need to find another one

Can you give me a hand on hat.

Best Regards,

Xavier Mercado
