Please excuse duplicate post but suspect I am trying to seek the experience of possibly a very small number that have used Millbrook Marine Bedding and realised that most likely will be motorboat owners that are prepared to pay for comfort while PBO forum tends to be sailors that get pleasure out of making their own using e bay foam and an electric carving knife before they will part with near £1000 for a bed!! With a V sprung mattress at home e bay foam won't cut it with my SWMBO so hence my plea for help/experience of Millbrook on here.

As we intend to spend more time on boat SWMBO has authorised the purchase of new mattress for our cabin.

Various manufactures and types and thicknesses.

Currently think of changing 125mm Jeanneau foam mattress to a 200mm pocket spring/foam mattress. The next choice is the top internal mattress material. It can be foam, memory foam or latex. Latex is dearest, memory foam can be too hot in summer I am advised so intended going for latex.

For size etc it seems best to get two with zip connection for cabin.

Seen various manufacturers at boat shows but decided to go with the most local one, Millbrook marine bedding, who will visit boat to template cabin (dims vary over length and side slopes)

Anyone any opinion /knowledge on thickness choice (can be 6" to 10"!) topping choice and finally have used Millbrook marine bedding?

Just hate re-inventing the wheel when someone may have already been there!!

Should add the mattress will sit on the existing plastic spring system (about 15mm) to provide ventilation but wondering whether to fit an electric blanket underneath to assist remove condensation. There is no cold water tank underneath as its a Deck Saloon - only batteries!

Hi Sailfree I had a mattress from Millbrook Marine bedding at the beginning of last year and used their template service as it was quite an awkward shape, I have to say the guys that came to do this were excellent very efficient and knowledgeable about their product. On their advise I went for 1260 pocket springs with the latex option. When the mattress came they fitted it, perfect fit, and removed the old one. After a full season with it I can honestly say its great probably more comfortable than my bed at home. My only Criticism is their customer service liaison manager is useless.

We have a mattress from another company that uses millbrook marine for manufacture and the same as Den we have pocket sprung with mem foam top and it's the best thing we have slept on .

Thanks guys its the sort of feedback that is reassuring before I part with my cash. On searching found some bad comments regarding another supplier.

What overall thickness did you go for please?
